Zion National Park
Utah

Zion National Park is a southwest Utah nature preserve distinguished by Zion Canyon’s steep red cliffs. Zion Canyon Scenic Drive cuts through its main section, leading to forest trails along the Virgin River. The river flows to the Emerald Pools, which have waterfalls and a hanging garden. Also along the river, partly through deep chasms, is Zion Narrows wading hike.

When Visiting

Zion National Park is one of the big five national parks in Utah. The other four parks are Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Canyon Land, and Arches. All parks are found in the southern part of Utah, south of I-70 (running east and west across the state), and east of I-15 (running north and south across the state). Each park has its unique geological makeup of rock formations. The Virgin River runs through the canyon giving it its unique formation. There’s good hiking in Zion, ranging from easy along the riverbed to moderate to somewhat strenuous up to Angels Landing. If you are willing to walk in the water, you can hike north against the flow of the Virgin River up the canyon as for as you want to. The water is about knee deep at this point or less as you are surrounded by canyon walls on both sides. There’s lots of wildlife such as deer, wild turkeys and condors that can be seen without looking real hard for them. You have to look way up in the sky to see the condors as they soar high above the peaks. This is a beautiful place to visit.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Matthew 7:13-14
